Readjusting to my life in NY and all that jazz!!

It’s been more than a week that I have returned from Europe and I am not going to lie that I wanted to stay in Europe  and not come back ahhaha. Who can blame me? The way of life is slower, the food is amazing, the wine is divine andmy french was improving! But I came to my senses and I knew I had to finish my last semester of undergrad especially if I want to go back to France. I remembered getting on my plane feeling bittwersweet because I was leaving a place I called home for four months where I created great memories and leaving that to come back to my routined life.  It may seem dramatic on my part but I felt in my happy place. Anyways, once the plane started to land and I saw the beautiful night lights of NYC, I felt better. NYC will forever be my home, but now I have another country to call my home, France.

NYC at night :)

NYC at night 🙂

Yes, it’s only been more than a week since my arrival and it is not as bad as I had imagined it to be. Everyone mentions reverse culture shock will happen and yes it does exist but to a certain extent. Since France is a westernized country there weren’t a lot of differences. Except when it comes to a lot of daily routines, for example, in France you tap the metrocard instead of swiping( I had to remember when I went to the subway station). Another example is the saying good eating, good morning, good evening/night is not habitual in NY like it is in France in my opinion.

Also, during the week I have been here, I have moved into my apt! I guess you can say that I am growing up? LOL but I am excited to become more of an adult and experience a different side of my college experience. It will be interesting to see how I juggle cooking, studying, work and social life~! But studying abroad in France prepared me to face the challenges I will face living off campus.

Overall, my transition from France to the US has been pretty smooth. I am excited to start my classes and job/internships so that I can finally obtain my diploma!
